The Ascott Limited accelerates Middle East and Africa growth with 16 new openings by 2028

The account further reinforces QComms’ credentials in hospitality PR, with the agency continuing to support hotels, resorts, restaurants and destination-led brands.

The Ascott Limited (Ascott) has revealed its next phase of regional growth across the Middle East, Africa and Türkiye (MEAT) at Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2026, with 16 properties set to open by the end of 2028. The pipeline reflects the continued expansion and diversification of Ascott’s regional portfolio, supporting its ambition to reach 15,000 units by 2030.

Before the end of the year, Ascott is set to open two properties totalling 176 units across Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. These include the 86-unit Ascott Villas Riyadh, the group’s first villa community in Saudi Arabia and the 90-unit waterfront Citadines Sharq Kuwait, which marks the groups Kuwait debut. Ascott Villas Riyadh and Citadines Sharq Kuwait also reflect the group’s current focus on introducing hospitality offerings that respond to the specific needs and demand drivers of individual markets.

Looking ahead to 2027, Ascott aims to launch the 130-unit Citadines Bab Tangier in Morocco, strengthening its footprint in one of its key African growth markets. The group will also expand its presence further in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with the opening of Citadines City Centre Al Khobar. Furthermore, 2028 will see the opening of nine properties across the region, including Al Theeb Tower by The Crest Collection in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia featuring 211 apartments, and the 539-unit Al Mahra Resort by The Crest Collection in Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates.

Vincent Miccolis, Managing Director for the Middle East, Africa and Türkiye at The Ascott Limited, says: “The resilience of our operating model has been particularly evident through recent market disruption, with occupancy across our regional portfolio exceeding 70% in early 2026. For us, that reinforces both the strength of demand for flexible accommodation and our confidence in the long-term fundamentals of the region. We see significant growth potential across markets including the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Morocco, however our approach is not simply about adding more properties. It is about identifying where the strongest opportunities exist and matching the right brand, operating model and partnership to each market and development. As we work towards our regional growth target, that disciplined approach will remain central to how we expand.”
